My Mom’s Quesadilla Recipe

Xaxton Revolution's Mom’s Favorite Quesadillas (the recipe was my mom‘s idea, I thought adding teriyaki sauce with my idea but I just was informed that that was not the case, one time we added spring onions and when we added spring onions that was my idea): serves 4-6

Ingredients:

Cooking Spray

Steak filling:    3 pounds sirloin steak cut into 1 inch cubes
                       4 Tablespoonsful butter
1/2 large Vidalia onion cut finely
2-3 tsp. McCormick Grillmates Montreal Steak Seasoning
                       Teriyaki Sauce (approximately 1/4-1/3 cup)
3 tsp. minced garlic from jar
Cheddar Cheese
Fajita Sized Tortilla shells (either plain or whole wheat-Food Lion brand) (at least 6 to make 3 quesadillas)
Side condiments:

Guacamole:   3 mashed ripe avocados mixed with
                      garlic salt to taste
                      low-fat sour cream (3 tablespoonsful)
Sour Cream
Jarred Salsa

Directions:

Preparing the steak filling: melt butter in a large sauté pan. Add chopped onions and garlic and sauté at medium heat about 8-10 minutes. Add steak cubes to pan and Montreal steak seasoning. Cook about 8 minutes until meat appears mostly browned. Add teriyaki sauce to pan and cook at low temp until most of liquid has evaporated (about 5 minutes).

Serve with guacamole, salsa, and sour cream on the side if desired.
